Event in Brief

On November 11th a host of artists will be creating an 'epic' live performance encompassing up to 30 London Underground stations simultaneously from Hammersmith to Canary Wharf, Euston to Southwark with possibly 120 professional artists participating from different disciplines.  Basically, 'no man’s land' is one event replicated 30 times exploring why we all hold the opinion we do on conflict and war, how society functions, events unfold and how the actions of the individual ripple out by reflecting on the year 1912, just before the Great War.  Deliberately blighted with bureaucracy, boundaries and barriers no one person or group is in creative control or the lead  [read more detail here]

How it will work (or not)
Using the spots (spaces) allocated for busker at tube station, the organisers,
Platform-7, will invite a poet, a musician and a sculpture inside the designated busker spot and a videographer outside the spot recording the event.  The four people involved in the station will work together in how best to deliver their part of a project that is being replicated across the London Underground.  The poet and musician will interpret music and poetry supplied to them (by committees set up for the event) and the sculptor needs to respond to the station setting and the performers interpretation.  The videographer is tasked in capturing the event in real time.  [see station units here]

Exploring Bureaucracy, Process and What IS An Event
John McKiernan created the original idea and skeleton of the event and now has little input into the creative process.  He is part of a Cabinet Committee who discuss the marketing, funding, etc. A Poetry and Music Committee has been created to develop new work for the event and an elaborate command structure causes further bureaucracy  [

Taking Control
You have options on the amount of control you have in this event.  You can be 'fodder' as violinist Daniel Merrill describes those 'just performing' or you can choose to organise one station or more by becoming a Sergeant or Captain
