The originator of the event no man's land, John McKiernan, is already handing creative control to the individual committees (music, poetry and sculpture). Control of the event is vested in the command team led by Lenka Horakova. Lenka will hand the creative work of each committee to ten individual London underground station captains, who will then apply their own interpretation of the committees’ directives to the artists working in busker spots at each station. In addition, the captains will be charged with providing direction and support to further stations in their locality, run by sergeants who then apply these directives to each tube station performance location.
On the morning of the no man's land event, participants make their own way to their designated London Underground location. Each location has a musician, poet and technician on site (LUL rules only allow three people at each location). One piece of poetry, prose or dialogue, and one piece of sound/music notation will be provided for interpretation at all thirty performance spaces. In addition, each site will have a site-specific sculpture that resonates with the local area. Each performance will be filmed and recorded by the technicians; these will be uploaded to the website post event in a variety of formats (montage, video etc.) as directed by the logistics committee.
Jars containing soil from the Somme will be on each tube station in advance of the event. If there is a no show by any of the artists, a jar will be place on their spot of performance.
